MIREMS Ltd, and MIREMS International Inc, are multilingual media monitoring and research companies, based in Canada and the United States. Our principal and several team members have been active in the field since 1988. We are international, almost entirely virtual team of 40 consultants based anywhere between Vancouver and Budapest and between Halifax and Miami, and places beyond.
We are a unique organization – apparently a monopoly – a multilingual niche in the media monitoring industry. We are focused on making the voice of media in other languages accessible to decision makers – our task is to make language barriers transparent in both directions.
Like it or not, this is not just another job.
We’re glad to hear from you. If you have been invited to participate in this mutual assessment survey it is important that you understand the purpose.
We believe candidates should walk into this job knowing exactly what is expected of them.
People ask us - "How do you get people to do their job, day in and day out, without being on top of them?" The answer is "because we don't 'get them' to do anything, they 'get themselves', they are on top of themselves, they are inspired by what they are doing, they overcome the setbacks and depressions of their lives to turn up for work, and get the job done." Then they say, "you must pay them very well." We respond "We try our best, but in our view, although the money is part of the equation, as is working autonomy - it's the mission."
We are a bunch of individuals, immigrants and children of immigrants, learners of foreign languages, fanatically dedicated to serving our communities and our country in spite of any love/hate relationship we might have with either or both LOL!
We are also pragmatic, realistic, objective, non partisan, not very conformist, brighter than most, and scarily sane about the reality around us. Maybe in today's frightened world of post-truths and alternative facts, that attitude does make us crazy, or not normal at least.

“OK, so let's tell them like it is - we are a bunch of live wires, not a bump on a log among us, we walk the extra mile because we want to, and we bitch about it because we can, and nobody questions us for that. It is an honor to join this team of crackerjack crackpots, and those who can't hack it need not apply. Well, this need not be the message in so many words, but perhaps it should be the proud attitude.” (Andres, President)
