Canadian passport applications from children who were born to spies in Canada were rejected

Chinese source 51.ca reports: "If the parents are spies, then can their children who were born in Canada get Canadian citizenship? There are 3 comments on this article. One of the commenters thought of sneaking into the United States, and then crossing the border to Canada. Another commenter wrote that the intake of terrorists requires a large number of spots. (10/08/2018)

Children born to spies in Canada should not be handed citizenship, says Ottawa

Tamil source CMR FM 101.3 from Toronto reports: "The federal government has appealed to the Supreme Court that a son of Russian intelligence agents should be denied Canadian citizenship. In its appeal the government claims that Russian spies lurking in the Canadian shadows may toil in secret, but they're still employees of Moscow — and therefore their children are not Canadian citizens. The Canadian government is fighting a Federal Court of Appeal ruling that effectively affirmed the Canadian citizenship of Alexander Vavilov and, through a related case, his older brother.
